What type of insurance is included in the rental prices?

In the European Union, all car rental companies are required to insure their vehicles with Third Party Liability Insurance covering Material Damage and Bodily Injury to Third Parties, for the minimum amounts specified by law.
Additionally, the following insurance packages are provided:
  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with Excess - With this coverage, the renter's financial responsibility in case of damage to the car, limited to the vehicle's bodywork, is reduced to the amount of the deductible/excess specified at the beginning of the rental and depending on the selected category.
  • Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) with reduced Excess - This insurance package is optional and available upon request, with an additional daily cost depending on the rental duration and selected category. By choosing this insurance package, the renter's financial responsibility in case of damage to the car, limited to the vehicle's bodywork, is further reduced.
  • Theft Protection (TP) with Excess - The renter is liable upto the Excess amount in case of theft of the vehicle during the rental period.
*Note that this insurance does not cover theft resulting from the renter's negligence, such as leaving the keys in the ignition while absent, leaving the engine running while absent, or failing to lock the vehicle while parked.
  • Personal Coverage (PAI) - With this coverage, a specific amount is ensured for the driver and passengers in case of bodily harm and/or death as a result of a road accident that occurs during the rental period.

Am I covered for any damage with the full Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW)?

No, as in both cases, the renter is still responsible up to the amount of the deductible/excess specified according to the selected category, and it only applies to the vehicle's bodywork. Specifically, there is no insurance coverage for damages to the underside of the car, to the tires and wheels, damages resulting from misuse of the vehicle (e.g., driving on unsuitable roads, towing another vehicle, participating in speed races), etc.

Is it necessary to sign the rental agreement even if my reservation has been confirmed?

Since the legal owner of the rented vehicle is the rental company, the rental agreement is the document that authorizes the customer/renter to use the car according to the terms specified. Additionally, basic details such as the vehicle's license plate number and brand are not recorded at the time of booking. Furthermore, the customer may decide to avail additional services offered by the company at the time of vehicle pickup, such as requesting additional coverage, category upgrades, changes of the rental period, etc. Therefore, by signing the agreement, the customer accepts the rental agreement and can legally use the vehicle for the period specified in the rental contract.

Can I rent a car without a credit or debit card?

You can choose the payment method for the rental, whether it is by card or by cash. However, you will be asked for a credit or debit card (in the name of the primary driver) to cover the rental security deposit, which is applicable for charges that may arise during or at the end of the rental, such as extending the rental period, adding additional drivers, refueling, fines for traffic violations, damages, etc. Only in the case where you do not possess a credit or debit card, you have the option to pay the rental security deposit in cash.
*Please note that the rental deposit, is equivalent to the amount of the deductible/excess based on the selected category.

Can I make a reservation for a specific car model, and how can I ensure that I will receive the one I reserved?

Reservations are made based on the car category. Each category includes various models that share similar characteristics, such as engine capacity, passenger capacity, fuel type, luggage space, etc. The Car Rental Company is obligated to provide any available car belonging to the category you have reserved, not a specific model, brand, or color.

Can someone else drive the car I have rented?

Yes, only if they have been declared as an additional driver and their details have been registered in the rental agreement, which they must also sign. Otherwise, the insurance coverage does not apply.

Can I drive with my rental vehicle off-road or to Balos beach?

We regret to inform you that driving the rental car off-road or to Balos Beach is strictly prohibited. Our company's vehicles are specifically designed for leisure purposes and passenger transportation, and they are permitted to be driven exclusively on asphalted roads. Driving the rented vehicle on dirt or gravel roads, such as the road to Balos or similar routes, beaches, rocky areas, or any other unauthorized places, is strictly forbidden.
Engaging in off-road driving can lead to severe damage to the vehicle and the tires. Furthermore, it's important to note that the insurance coverage becomes null and void in such cases. Therefore, if you choose to drive off-road, you will be held fully responsible for any damage, malfunction, or cleaning required for the vehicle.
We kindly request that you adhere to these guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of both yourself and our rental vehicles.
